Karri is a commercial energy-storage system for Magellan Power. Named after the towering eucalyptus native to Western Australia, the housing translates the idea of strength, growth and clean energy into a confident industrial object — one designed to stand proudly in a technical room or a public-facing space.

The Problem

Energy-storage cabinets are typically purely functional metal boxes. The brief was to give a high-performance system an identity that communicates sustainability and trust, while respecting strict thermal, structural and manufacturing constraints.

My Approach

I developed the exterior around a central light channel and an etched tree-of-life circuit motif that doubles as a status indicator. Crisp vertical breaks structure the volume and echo bark and structural ribs, while a recessed plinth grounds the mass. Every surface was resolved for sheet-metal manufacturing and ventilation.

The Outcome

The result is a modular housing that reads as premium and unmistakably branded, available in a light architectural finish and a dark variant with an electric-blue glow for more technical environments.
